Today and every day, I fight
To end worldwide misogyny
So that I may raise a daughter
Not in a society that has taught her
She is less than a man —
But in one where she knows
She can accomplish anything
Nothing will stand in her way
She will feel wonderful and worthy
And I challenge my son
To cherish the women he came from
To own his femininity and emotional complexity
Let it out and cry, rather than die inside
Trying to prove being rude and crude
Is what consists a man
Happy International Women’s Day!
We’ve gone weary and grey
Fighting the good fight
Sharing our insights
Demanding our rights
Keep on collaborating
Join us in celebrating
That our world is forever changing
Full of originality and pride,
May we all rise with the tide
