Finding Myself

Written by Nazaneen Qauomi

Long empty hallways
I can’t hear anything but the sound of my own footsteps
Long dark nights
I can’t hear anything but chorus of crickets
Long winding roads
I can’t hear anything but the mysterious roar of the wind

Since I realized they exist for a reason
I fear darkness, long roads, and quiet hallways less

I am walking for a reason and
I am almost there
I am conquering the fear
Of being myself, truly and without trepidation

My feet may get tired
I may feel exhausted
But
I am conquering all my fears, conquering all my doubts

I am walking towards the valley,
Looking at the moonlight,
Looking towards the river,
Looking at my reflection,
Finding myself
That is what life is for
