Grounded

By: Mariam Amini
I am like the ground that holds the roots
My name changes with the passing of seasons
They first call me
His daughter
Then they call me
His wife
Then they call me
His mother
But my influence is constant
Spread across layers of time
My power is infinite
My purpose permanent
I hold everything
I am the ground that can take it all
Absorb it all
Sustain it all
Nourish it all
I am woman
And you– you are grounded to me.
