Laili Ghazal
For too long, the night has taken us hostage
And our voices haven’t escaped our throats.
We have been scared into silence
With the serial killings of our sisters.
We have been hit by death, looming around our silence.
The wolves are tearing our sisters apart
And killing them one by one.
Yet we are silent.
How long will this silence last?
How long will this fear persist?
Is death not better than this humiliating existence?
If because of shame we silence our screams
Who will speak for our sisters?
You and I might be the next dead bodies
Floating in the night.
We cannot expect better from wolves.
Let us break this silence.
Let us rise for our sisters
Or else history will drown in the blood of unknown women.
And the daughters of tomorrow will damn us for our voicelessness.
